KEEP IT SAXY

I have been teaching private saxophone lessons since 2005. I work with students of all ages, emphasizing the importance of sound, technique, and theory, while maintaining a fun and challenging lesson plan specifically tailored to the needs of each person. I specialize in teaching classical, jazz, and blues saxophone (alto, soprano, tenor, and baritone). I am currently offering private lessons online through Skype, Facetime, and Zoom, and in Howard County, Maryland. Please contact me if interested.

More About Me:
After graduating from River Hill High School, I completed dual degrees in Saxophone Performance and Music Production & Engineering at Berklee College of Music, one of the top music schools in the world. I have also toured professionally, performing throughout the continental United States, Hawaii, China, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, and Europe, and shared the stage with many notable musicians, including Willie Nelson, Annie Lennox, Kathy Mattea, Joe Louis Walker, and others.

How much are lessons?

A 30 minute lesson is $45. I offer 60 min lessons by request if I can fit it into my current lesson schedule. Payment is due via Venmo or cash/check at the time of the lesson.

What materials do you recommend?

I recommend renting a student model instrument and mouthpiece and purchasing reeds from your local music store (i.e. Music & Arts).  I recommend reeds 2.5 strength for beginners and for beginner studies, I recommend the Rubank Elementary Method for Saxophone, which can be found at Music & Arts. I also recommend buying one other book that comes with a play-a-long CD - this can be a play-a-long rock & roll tunes, top 40 favorites, or anything that the student might have an interest in playing. I started out playing a book of movie themes, but also enjoyed a book called "Band Jam". While the Rubank book can be technical at times, these play-a-long books give the student an opportunity to "stretch out" and play fun tunes that they already know and might even sing along to.
